Two types of Test cases are there:
1) Positive Test Cases
2) Negative Test Cases
A) Positive Test Cases are:
1. Installation Testing
2.UI Testing: or Design based Testing
3. Usability testing
4. Integration Testing
5. Functional Testing
6.Non Functional Testing
7. Performance and Stress Testing
8. Compatibility testing
Let’s Explain one by one:
1. Installation Testing:
1) Check if the all parts of the Fan is fitting properly and no loose fitting.
2) Check if the Fan blade is fitted properly.
3) Verify the type of Fan- whether it is Table Fan or Celling Fan
2. UI Testing: or Design based Testing:
Each Fan is unique in design and follows a particular pattern for the design. So we have to write the test cases for the same.
1) Does the Fan make follow the design specification?
2) Does the Fan have the colour as per specification?
3) Does the Blades of the Fan as per the specification (Size and length)?
4) Does the logo of the company is properly printed as per the design specification?
5) Check if the dimension (Verify that length, breadth and other size specifications of the Fan ) of the Fan as per mentioned in the requirement.
6) Verify the number of blades on the fan
7) Verify the outer body of the Fan- whether it should be metallic, plastic or any other material as per the specification
8) Verify the weight of the Fan
9) Check if the enough distance present between fan blades and ceiling
10) Check if the blades of the fan can be bend or not, check if its material is brittle
3. Usability testing :
1) Check if fan is running with minimum noise and vibration.
2) Check if fan is not wobbling when it’s in the movement.
3) Check if Fan is usable for similar Blades of different brands.
4. Integration Testing:
1) Check the length of the fan rod and blades.
2) Verify that blades and fan rod properly fit with Fan.
3) Verify that the Fan can be fit properly with celling.
5. Functional Testing :
1) Check if speed varies when regulator adjusted.
2) Check if the Speed of the fan is controlled by the regulator
3) Check Fan should always work in clock-wise direction
4) Verify if the fan works normally-throws wind on the right direction
5) Check if fan is stopped only if electric switch OFF
6) Check if fan is started only if electric switch ON.
7) Check if the time required to reached to it maximum speed when fan is switched ON.
8) Check if the voltage/power requirement of the fan as per mentioned in the requirement.
9) Verify that when in motion, the fan should not wobble
6. Non Functional Testing:
1) Test whether the object (a Fan of in this case) looks like a Fan (obviously there must be some expected result by which you can check and can say –yes this is a Fan )
2) The Fan body must not be too thick or too thin
3) The look and feel must be good
4) Check if there is any life time of fan’s internal parts or the body
7. Performance and Stress Testing:
1) Check if the fan’s motor and electrical parts if any under unexpected outage of electricity.
2) Check if fan if working properly under voltage fluctuation conditions like low voltage conditions.
3) Verify the fan’s condition when continuously switched on for very large duration
8 Reliability testing:
1) Check the minimum and maximum speed of fan
2) Check if the material used for fan blades and check if it’s not getting bend when it is in motion.
B) Negative Test Cases
1) Check that fan is working without capacitor or not.
2) Check if the Fan has the right colored
3) Check Fan stress testing by dropping Fan down from practical height and check if nothing is breaking, no any damage to Fan and Fan is working without any issues.
4) Check how Fan is working at different climate environmental conditions like at room temperature, different climate conditions.
